About Security
As with any normal banking transaction, the Bank will treat your information and transactions as strictly confidential. Once you logon to DirectDeal, your session will be secured using a 128-bit encrypted connection (using Secured Socket Layer 3) between yourself and the Bank. All transactions and Internet messages using National Bank DirectDeal are transmitted in this encrypted environment, ensuring that a high level of security protects the information.
The browser that you use needs to support 128-bit data encryption, and
we recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0.
DirectDeal uses the RSA ACE/Server and RSA SecurID user authentication security solution. Access to the DirectDeal system
is given only to users who have presented a unique userid, PIN and the 6 digit authorisation number from the
security device assigned to the user. The need for the SecurID security device is to prevent anyone
who may have access to your userid and PIN from masquerading as a certified user on the system. If
you keep the SecurID security device in your possession, you may be assured that no one else will be able to
log into DirectDeal using your userid and PIN. (For more information on RSA SecurID
National Bank DirectDeal uses session cookies to hold user information once the user has been authenticated.
This session cookie is also encrypted (128-bit triple DES encryption), exists in memory only on the user's PC
and is not stored in any way on the user's PC disk. When the user's browser is shut down this cookie is deleted.
All requests for information are serviced from within a secure server environment and no information on
you or your transactions is stored in the public domain.
Usage information is recorded for site management purposes. This information is not intended to
identify individual users. No information on your usage of this site, or any other National Bank site,
including logs and cache, will be made available to any third party outside companies in the ANZ National Bank
Group, unless required by law.
Please be aware that the Internet is not a secure environment, and should not be used to communicate with the
Bank about your accounts, unless you use the facilities available through National Bank Online Banking or
DirectDeal. Any information you transmit to companies in the ANZ National Bank Group (Group) may
be used by the Group to advise you of the Groups products and services and those of
selected third parties. You have the right to access and correct personal information held by the Group that relates
to you.
