International Bank Drafts
Bank drafts are international cheques drawn on overseas banks in favour
of specified payees. They are a time-honoured simple method of making
foreign payments still favoured by many customers.
-
Available in many currencies including NZD
-
Ideal for lower value payments as it provides a lower cost method of

International Receipts/Inward Payments
The National Bank provides a range of services to assist you when
receiving
payments from overseas or in a foreign currency. We can assist you
in determining the best way to handle these receipts and provide the
services to clear them to your National Bank
accounts.
-
Electronic transfer is the option we generally recommend. It gives
access to the funds faster than other payment methods. Proceeds can
be converted into New Zealand dollars and paid into your domestic
Current Account or kept in the foreign
currency and paid into your
Foreign Currency Call Account. Fees may
apply.
-
Foreign cheques are still a common way to receive funds from
overseas. These cheques usually need to be returned to the country
of origin for clearing, which can mean delays in gaining access to
the funds. In some situations the funds can be made available more
quickly. Fees may apply.
