TXT Banking is an SMS/text message based service that allows you to request your balance or a mini statement for up to three of your accounts.
All you need is:
- A mobile phone that is capable of sending and receiving text messages
- To be registered for National Bank Touchtone Phone Banking.
National Bank Mobile Phone Banking allows you to access your accounts from your mobile phone at any time of the day, wherever there is mobile phone coverage.

- To use TXT Banking all you need is a mobile phone that is capable of sending and receiving text messages.
- You can nominate up to three accounts when you register for TXT Banking.
- To check your account balances - simply text BAL to 228 to receive your account balances
- To view mini statements of your three accounts:
- text STMT to 228 to receive a list of the most recent transactions on your nominated account (the first account you register).
- text STMT2 or STMT3 to 228 to receive the transactions on your other two registered accounts.

Registering for TXT Banking is easy. All you need to do is:
- Call us on 0800 22 82 82
- Visit any National Bank branch.
- If you are an Online Banking customer, you can also register for TXT Banking through ‘Other Services’ in Online Banking
After you’ve completed one of the above options, we’ll send your mobile phone a welcome text message. When you get the welcome text, you need to:
- Reply to the welcome text message or send a new message to 228 to activate the service.
- You will receive a confirmation text message and are now ready to use TXT Banking.
- If you've registered for both TXT Banking and M-Banking you only need to activate your M-Banking service (TXT Banking will activate automatically).
